Rambo X – The Smoking Gun

21 Mar

That was the e-mail topic I received about ten minutes ago, from the JAN SHIM. I can’t deny the fact that I really love the pictures which he took of me enjoying my ‘HARAM’ likings (to whom it may concern: HARAM LANGSUT NINIMU….!!!!)

We went for Brunei River cruising yesterday, departing Yayasan jetty slightly over 4.45 pm, going towards Bangkurong bridge, passing the Istana Nurul Iman – capturing the unknown beauties of some portion of undisturbed mangrove swamps along the way, while waiting for the sun to sets in. We saw some monkeys, one in particular quite huge to be called monkey (from a distance about 200 meters, that monkey, seriously look like, 60kgs or so…..). We also spottted a shy crocodile, which dived immediately when Jan Shim’s camera was all ready to take the snap. Apparently, the crocodile is not ready to become famous yet.

The sunsets was a bit frustrating as we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was really different from shooting sunsets at the beach where we can have the horizon and capture the sun sets in. But then, the frustrations was never really felt as the group itself was very entertaining. There will always be a next time, for sure. Our next planned trip is to Pulau Keingaran and its surrounding, end of April or early May. Maybe taht time we will start as early as 12 noon, so that we can enjoy our pack lunch at Pulau Keingaran, an island which belongs to Sheikh Mahmud Al-Idrus family 🙂

Please Don’t Die……

17 Jan

I always wonder, when is the right time to die. For most of us, we can die anytime we want. When we die, the most our close ones will cry a little bit. Maybe a minute or two. Some may cry longer… (Some husbands will cry much less – for the death of  a wife will make them able to marry their scandals…)

The late Mr. Danny Chia (right) during class giving his 100%

BUT, it is not so for one family. The family of the late Mr. Danny Chia. His untimely death was the biggest sin he ever made. The sin which has to be shouldered by his young daughter. A sin that will make her live as a permanent resident of Brunei Darussalam. All started with the sin of  the father, the late Mr. Danny Chia of refusing to stay alive six months longer. Yes, the late Mr. Danny Chia died six months too early…

The late Danny Chia had gone thorough the Ujian Bahasa Melayu which he took in November 2007. He was so happy with the result. He was one step away from getting his Brunei Darussalam’s citizenship. With the citizenship his young daughter can follow suit. That was rightly so for most of us, the new citizens. As most fathers, he had plans for his daughter…

.

Then one night, he got sick. He went to the SSB hospital ER  in KB to get his treatment. Around 11 pm, he sms’s his wife to tell her where he was and for what reason. He had a sore-throat. A few hours later, he was gone… The family so shocked, reported his death to the Immigration Department.

.

He died before receiving his letter from the Immigration Department for his ‘loyalty oath’ to our beloved HM. He never receive the invitation letter. AND because of his failure to receive the letter and attend any ‘loyalty oath’ ceremony – his passing the Ujian Bahasa Melayu has now became null and void. The Immigration Department was quick to come out with a verdict – the daughter couldn’t get her citizenship.

.

My I asked this humble question:

  • Does the late Danny Chia choose to die that early?

  • Can’t our Government be humane enough to to treat this unfortunate incident separately?

  • Was it really a sin for the late Danny Chia to die before ‘loyalty oath swearing ceremony’ thus making his young daughter to continue her life as a permanent resident?

  • By taking (and passing)  the Ujian Bahasa Melayu, isn’t ‘he’ proven enough how loyal he was towards our beloved HM, the government and our law. the late Danny Chia, to me was an example of  a true law abiding citizen (AND he was born here, in Brunei, himself).

  • Is it a sin to die early?

May you rest in peace, my friend…

SSS On-Line Tuition

26 Jun

I have created a new blog for SSS on-line tuition (please refer to my blogroll, ON_LINE TUITION). This is created specially for those PR’s residing outside Brunei who have plans to return to Brunei in the future, to this country, Abode of Peace, where they truly belong. This is not a profit making blog. Everybody is welcome. When I say everybody, it is truly for everybody.

My past and present (maybe future) students are always welcome to use this blog as means of communication/s between us, hoping that what they studied ‘earlier’ can be remembered forever.

To my future ‘distant learning’ on-line student/s – the system is made simple. Just click ON-LINE TUITION on ‘my’ blogroll, and goto the relevant section/s which interest you. I have posted some study materials in almost each of every section listed, namely: contoh soalan lepas (PASS PAPER); melayu islam beraja (MALAY ISLAMIC MONARCHY); kabinet (CABINET); peribahasa (PROVERBS); karangan (COMPOSITION), pemahaman (COMPREHENSION); and so on. I will add more sections in the near future. You can ask the question through the ‘comment’ column.

BUT, as a friendly reminder, do not politicize this blog. I can be very vocal at times. And, stupid questions will get stupid answers from me 🙂

I am looking foward to Wasabi (in Canada?), my on-line buddy during our stints in http://www.bruclass.forum many years ago. I would love to meet Joanna, FlyGuy, TryBru, X-Men, Siang Malam and Raven too. Majapahit has now become my nephew, through his marriage to my 1st. cousin’s daughter. I really missed ‘our’ sometimes ‘heated’ moments together. I also sincerely hope that Mr. Loh Mann Hoi (now in Perth, Australia), who used to be my section head in BSP’s SSU Procument Department, to be able to start his tuition here. I have sent him my ‘book’, but learning by simply reading through a book will always be not that easy.

I have been ‘assigned’ to help those unfortunate PR’s. This will be my 2 cents worth contribution to the country I love, Brunei Darussalam. I sincerey hope that more and more Bruneian PR’s will get their citizenship in the near future. We need YOU with the expertise you gain out there, to help us further developed our nation.

May Allah, God the Almighty give us the blessing. Let us move foward as ONE.

SALAM.
