The Agony Of Waiting

29 Oct

It seems ages since I last post a new blog. Previously, I used to blog from my house anytime of day I want. It was fun then. And, it is not so anymore.

DST blamed it to congestions in my area. The funny thing is, the server seems to be okay if I were browsing my e-mails or any other websites. But, not my blog. Trying to login to my blog can take what seems to me, ages. It is really frustrating. Luckily Yap was always there to help.

It has been more than a month since I last chat with Jan Shim. For no apparent reason, my MSN messenger is gone. Yap has tried to rectify the problem, but to no avail. So I will have to wait to the day when Yap is able to help me solve this problem, yet again…

I am starting my ‘early intensive’ course this coming 2nd. November, 2009. My next blog after this one, would be the last – in English, until after the ‘Ujian’ is over in the middle of December 2009. From tomorrow onwards, I will be blogging in Malay, in the hope that it would be able to help the P33 candidates of Ujian Bahasa Melayu which will be held on 13th. December, 2009. My sincere apology to all of my non Malay speaking silent readers out there 🙂

Something To Ponder II

3 Jul

Jan Shim as expected was quick to response to my earlier post, Something To Ponder, with this reply:

  • Cikgu, I think it would be a great idea for the Class of May 2009 (and any other previous and current early bird Class volunteer) to organize a cleaning campaign of the said area. We don’t need to be ISO certified to have the common sense and sifat bergotong royong to avoid an “Eye Sore”

AND it was promptly followed (greatly expected too) by the sweet ever Lin Ji, in which she wrote:

  • Hi cikgu! and Hi Jan! haha.. I wouldn’t mind at all to volunteer to clean beaches! I was once in a group of 5 going around beach to beach in BSB just to clean the rubbish!  Too bad the group members are away now but it’ll be awesome if I could do it with SSS friends!!Do let me know if it’s planned!!! I’m more than happy to assist and above all, it’ll be very nice to meet up with all you and them again!!! =D

I have set the date, 12th. July, 2009, for our cleaning campaign at the designated beach starting at 4 pm, followed by a picnic (killing three birds with one stone, sambil menyelam minum air) and shooting the sunsets later.

The truth was, I don’t see a single dustbin at all in that area. We come to ‘chicken & egg’ situation in trying to  decide whose fault it really is. To me, Bruneians are generally simple minded – ‘if no rubbish bin provided means you can throw rubbish any where you like’ mentality. We are not trying to point fingers now. We need action. I will try to talk to Ah Seng of First Emporium to see if he can sponsor Jerudong beach one big dustbin on that occasion.

Any other suggestion/s is very much appreciated. Everybody is welcome to join.

REMEMBER, it is only a picnic 🙂

SSS On-Line Tuition

26 Jun

I have created a new blog for SSS on-line tuition (please refer to my blogroll, ON_LINE TUITION). This is created specially for those PR’s residing outside Brunei who have plans to return to Brunei in the future, to this country, Abode of Peace, where they truly belong. This is not a profit making blog. Everybody is welcome. When I say everybody, it is truly for everybody.

My past and present (maybe future) students are always welcome to use this blog as means of communication/s between us, hoping that what they studied ‘earlier’ can be remembered forever.

To my future ‘distant learning’ on-line student/s – the system is made simple. Just click ON-LINE TUITION on ‘my’ blogroll, and goto the relevant section/s which interest you. I have posted some study materials in almost each of every section listed, namely: contoh soalan lepas (PASS PAPER); melayu islam beraja (MALAY ISLAMIC MONARCHY); kabinet (CABINET); peribahasa (PROVERBS); karangan (COMPOSITION), pemahaman (COMPREHENSION); and so on. I will add more sections in the near future. You can ask the question through the ‘comment’ column.

BUT, as a friendly reminder, do not politicize this blog. I can be very vocal at times. And, stupid questions will get stupid answers from me 🙂

I am looking foward to Wasabi (in Canada?), my on-line buddy during our stints in http://www.bruclass.forum many years ago. I would love to meet Joanna, FlyGuy, TryBru, X-Men, Siang Malam and Raven too. Majapahit has now become my nephew, through his marriage to my 1st. cousin’s daughter. I really missed ‘our’ sometimes ‘heated’ moments together. I also sincerely hope that Mr. Loh Mann Hoi (now in Perth, Australia), who used to be my section head in BSP’s SSU Procument Department, to be able to start his tuition here. I have sent him my ‘book’, but learning by simply reading through a book will always be not that easy.

I have been ‘assigned’ to help those unfortunate PR’s. This will be my 2 cents worth contribution to the country I love, Brunei Darussalam. I sincerey hope that more and more Bruneian PR’s will get their citizenship in the near future. We need YOU with the expertise you gain out there, to help us further developed our nation.

May Allah, God the Almighty give us the blessing. Let us move foward as ONE.

SALAM.

Kehadapan Majlis

Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muiz’zaddin Wad’daulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji (Sir) Omar’Ali Saifuddin Sa’adul Khairi Wad’din, Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam

DAULAT TUANKU

(Ampun beribu ampun, sembah hamba Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik junjung diampun)

I mentioned earlier about the presence of DJ Leon during our BBQ last Friday. DJ Leon is in-fact a ‘web designer’ turned businessman. I asked him to come to discuss about creating a blog for ous SSS on-line tuition. That night, he simply told me to ceate one through my WordPress – by adding new page for each section. I did only about an hour ago. I never realise that it was so simple… Jan Shim as always, is ever-ready to give me a hand. Thank you very much to both of you… I owe this one to you both…

This On-line Tuition is targeted to help those daring Bruneians who are currently venturing in other countries to work & gain experience. I remembered well during middle of 1980’s (I was with Brunei Shell then) a big number of my collegues resigned and migrated because of the introduction of a new one-sided policy  right after our independence. Ironically, our independence was not enjoyed by all. The ‘borned in Brunei’ PR’s were considered as aliens – the ‘stateless’ who doesn’t have any rights at all in this so called Abode of Peace which was said to be upholding the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) ideology to some claimed has been in practiced since 1400’s.

Rightfully so, I was in the circle of the so called alien who used to be greeted with a kind of funny smiles every time one sees my RED ic…

In my two cents opinion, it is now important for our government to consider changing some rule in regards to those people who are still trying their best to make ends meet abroad, to invite them back to help us diversify our economy with their expertise. With that one-sided policy in 1980’s, we are in-fact indirectly forcing them to packed-up and leave. In order to diversify our economy, we should never neglect the importance of protecting our human resources. Every country needs its very own people to develop their country. Nobody else…

Maybe it is time for us to call them back. And maybe, the government will have to consider testing their ‘rusty’ knowledge of Malay in a much more ‘friendly’ manner. After all, they rightfully are Bruneians, by birth.

Future comments in this blog will be administered. Please come with real questions. I am here to help you in my ‘tiny’ might.

Thank You,

Yours, Truly,

Sheikh Mansor bin Sheikh Mohammad

Announcements

My WordPress has been hacked. So is my DST BroadBand. I will not be online as often as I want like previously. Now I am at Nasi Kandar Bunut with Yap, trying to fix the problem. I lost all my documents for a reason unknown even to Yap, our IT supervisor. Today he was able to ‘retrieved’ some of my ‘photos’. I have not check my documents files throughly yet. So, I hope everything is still there.

Brunei doesn’ have swine flu yet, eventhough there are a lot of ‘babi’ around…

LATEST UPDATE:

.

True enough, all my writings is now gone except for my SSS class work. But all copy of letters, hundreds of them, which I help to draft for the Brunei Citizenship applicants is also erased from my word files. Whoever is doing that, I suggest you be man enough (and not a bastard), to see me face to face.
